GUIDELINES FOR BOOK CLUB BLOGS
HOW TO WRITE A DISCUSSION POST:
1. You will be responsible for writing a new post at least once every two weeks.
2. You will also be responsible for commenting on the blogs of each member of your book club, at least once every two weeks.
3. Your blog post will focus on what you are currently reading. It should include the following information:
* Title, author, genre
* The Page you are currently on
* The plot so far (avoid “spoilers”)
* Your overall commentary: What do you like and why? What, if anything, do you dislike and why?
* A quote from this week’s reading that seems important or memorable to you.
* Commentary on the specific quote, showing why you think it is important and memorable.
Anything else you’d like to share about the book
4. Each blog will be scored on completion, quality, and deadline. These will count towards your overall homework score. Remember, everything you are doing is literary analysis.
HOW TO WRITE A COMMENT:
1. Among the topics you should consider commenting on are:
* Have you read this book too, and if so, do you agree or disagree with the author of the post? Why?
* If you have not read the book, does this blog post increase your interest in reading it? Why or why not?
* Questions for the author of the post.
* Is there something that you can relate to another book you have read?
* Anything else that is applicable to the discussion
2. Remember to use the proper rules of netiquette while writing a comment. You will be scored on your quality of comment, and this includes appropriate discussion, agreement, or disagreement.
3. Each comment will receive homework points based on quality and deadline. Remember that everything we are writing is a version of literary analysis.
